A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and Sun, totally or partially blocking the Earth's view of the sun.
BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- On Aug. 1, the total eclipse will be visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half the Earth. The path of the moon's umbral shadow will begin in Canada and extend across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia and Mongolia before ending in northern China.
On Aug. 1, people in north of China saw a total or partial eclipse.
