The low rainfall and high evaporation make this area pretty dry, But with a perfect irrigation system, during the growing season, the required water supply is ensured.In early spring when the ice on Qilian Mountain hasn`t melted and flown down as water, we turn to traditional techinque, that is, to utilize the water retaining capacity of the soil. As of late spring, all pumping stations and irrigation canals spreading all over the villages everywhere as a net, provide the required water for the crops.
